I'm singing in the rain....and I'm happy again

I promised myself that constant rain and bad weather won’t affect me any more this time! I am in a very happy mood and nothing will change that. I bought new rain boots, very cute with flowers and rainbow as a statement that my mood doesn’t fit the weather any more – yeah! Warm boots will boost my mood :-) Wishing you all dry and sunny days.

"I'm singing in the rain

Just singing in the rain

What a glorious feelin'

I'm happy again

I'm laughing at clouds

So dark up above

The sun's in my heart

And I'm ready for love

Let the stormy clouds chase

Everyone from the place

Come on with the rain

I've a smile on my face

I walk down the lane

With a happy refrain

Just singin',

Singin' in the rain"

"Village of a million spirits"

I'm currently reading a novel written by Ian MacMillan about Treblinka's staggering inhumanity of the death camps. Sometimes the book's graphic description can be deeply disturbing but the story itself shows the desperate fight for hope and survival. Despite the fact that MacMillans remarkable novel is fiction, the story in many ways resembles what really happened in concentration camps. I visited a few camps in Poland and have to admit that what I witnessed was extremely sad and traumatizing. The memory of the mass murder of innocent people, horror they witnessed and experience should never been forgotten.

“We are to sort the bodies as follows: fat women in one pile, thin women and children in one pile, men in one pile.” He continues speaking, but his voice is drowned out by the engine as the toothed box slams down into the pit once again. The worker waits while the box grinds shut. The closing sides sever torsos, scissor limbs off, divides the corpses of a child, and drops other body parts back into the pit as the box rises up and swings toward them. The worker waits until the box swings away once more, and goes on to explain that the fat women burn best and are used to kindle thin women and children, who in turn ignite the men. The carriers must have them sorted just so, because they will be piled on the roast with the fat women on the bottom. Body parts will be sorted in the same manner - fat leg goes with the bodies of the fat women and so on...”

Some resolutions require new shoes!

Designers continue their bold experiments with the new shapes and constructions for stylish and fashionable shoes of today. Fashion shoe trends this season won't differ much from winter/fall 09 collections. Big platforms are still IN. Lets hope that new spring designer collections will be much more practical and comfortable than the last year ones.
If you have trouble finding shoes you can ask Kim Kardashian and her stylists for recommendation. In 2009 Kim launched new website called Shoe Dazzle. SD has a membership fee of $39/mo which covers the first pair and shipping is free, and you don't pay until you've chosen your first pair of shoes. If you would like to purchase additional pairs than it would be another $39.

Barneys has an amazing on-line sale on designers shoes like Miu Miu, Manolo or Christian Laboutin. I think it's still great bargain taking in consideration that original price for Christian's signature red hill shoe reaches $1000.

Make-up your mind!

Makeup enhances beauty, defines your features in new and exciting ways. It brightens your facial structure and turns your face into a work of art! I am very much into dressing up and makeup. I wear makeup every day. I like natural look though, just little bit of mascara, foundation and bronzing compact powder. I enjoy it but I don't depend on it.

"Beautiful Blogger Award"

Wow! I've been awarded the "Beautiful Blogger Award" from http://kindofthatgirl.blogspot.com/. She's "kind of that girl", which is good to know and follow! She has a very beautiful and inspirational blog. You don't need to have a book to read, her blog is a "page turner"! Alexandra's poem called: "To You My Love, Forgive Me" is my favorite, check it out!

For those I given an award, here are the rules:

1) Thank the person who nominated you for this award.
2) Copy the award & place it on your blog.
3) Link to the person who nominated you for this award.
4) Tell us 7 interesting things about yourself.
5) Nominate 7 bloggers.
6) Post links to the 7 blogs I nominate.

Here are 7 things about me, decide for yourself if it's interesting or not:

  1. I love sad and gloomy songs. You have to listen to them every time you pass by my blog. I have 39 sad and gloomy songs on my playlist, I hope it won't scare you off??

  2. I am my husband's wife, who makes me sooo happy, who's my soul mate and whom I love ENORMOUSLY!

  3. I love to travel. I've been around Europe and I think there is no better place to be then Switzerland were I lived for 10 years (OK, France and Italy too)!

  4. I can't stand sad and gloomy summers in San Francisco;

  5. I love to eat but I hate to cook. (Lucky for me my husband's cooking is amazing, it actually relaxes him);

  6. I love everything what's French: frog's legs, french cooking, Chanel, Louis de Funès, Edith Piaf (no, I don't have her on my playlist), houte couture, wine testing, joi de vivre. Oh, I can't forget about: cheese, pastries, bread, charcutrie...And of course language, which I hope not to forget.

  7. I am not a big fun of surprises. I get disappointed very easily and I don't know how to hide it. I don't have big expectations, I just don't know how to act like I am surprised!
And award goes to:
(no particular order)

  1. http://threehundredsixtyfiveloves.blogspot.com/

Paper plane, paper dress?

This photo series, a combined effort from Russian advertising agency Doberman and artists Alexandra Zaharova and Ilya Plotnikov, was shot for the 2009 issue of L’Officiel. What's amazing about those dresses is that they are made of paper. Despite the fact that they are not wearable (I wouldn't recommend to wear it in a rainy day), the silhouettes are surprisingly flattering, and certainly innovative and beautiful.

Zaharova specializes in illustration and print, however I much prefer her creative commercial side.
